Where the Hub fits beside your HRIS and directory

Your HRIS stays the system of record for who works here. The Hub adds a channel to the employees who chose to connect.

What this helps you do

Your HRIS keeps employment, pay and the org chart; your directory keeps accounts and access; your scheduling tool keeps the shifts. The Hub holds only the employees who connected, the sites, shifts and departments they follow, and what you sent. It is not an employee record and not a system of record for anything. Whatever the system, the doors are the same four: a CSV export you upload on Connections, the inbound webhook that invites one person at a time, signed outbound events that tell your systems who connected or replied, and the Zapier app when both ends are apps rather than code.

When to use it

Use CSV after a hiring wave, from an opted-in export. Use the inbound webhook when onboarding should invite a new hire on day one. Use outbound events when your own systems should know who connected or left. Nothing here is required: a site can run on the break-room code.

How to do it

  • Export the opted-in employees from your HRIS or directory and upload the CSV on Connections.
  • Point your onboarding step at the inbound webhook on Integrations so a new hire is invited on their first day.
  • Add your HTTPS endpoint under events out so your own systems hear when someone connects, opts out or leaves.
  • Ask for the Zapier app if you would rather connect the two ends without code.
  • Send the closure, the shift call or the benefits deadline from Send. The Hub is not reading your schedule.

Example

An operator exports its opted-in employee list after a hiring wave and uploads the CSV. When a site closes for weather at five in the morning, one Blast reaches that site's audience and supervisors answer in Conversations. The HRIS still owns who works where.

Good to know

  • There is no HRIS, payroll, directory or scheduling connector. Workday and similar systems are named here only to say so.
  • The Hub holds no employment, pay or scheduling data, and connecting is the employee's own choice: an employer cannot add someone to it.
  • A departed employee simply stays disconnected. Removing them from your HRIS does not reach into their Blasts account, and it does not need to.

Do it in your Hub

Inside your Hub, Help shows this same article next to the screen it describes. Sign in at directtoemployees.com or right here.
