A communication channel, not a participant record

Import only what communication needs. Player, medical, waiver, payment and eligibility details stay in your league system.

What this helps you do

LeagueBlasts is a communication channel, not a participant record. It needs an email address, a name, a household where two guardians registered the same player, and the audiences a person is in or chose. It does not need, and should not be used to hold, a player's name or date of birth, medical, allergy, medication or emergency-contact details, waiver, payment, eligibility or background-check status, registration or player IDs, school, grade, jersey size, or private notes about a player.

When to use it

Read this before your first import, before you write a team note on a person, and before you write any message about one player rather than an audience.

How to do it

  • Prepare a communication-only export from your registration system: the registration contact's email and own name, a household name and an audiences column. The Hub discards every other column and every other webhook field before anything is saved, but don't send them in the first place.
  • Check the import preview. If the name columns in your export are the player's, set them to not stored: the Hub can't tell a player's name from a parent's.
  • If a division or team should decide who hears something, make it a named audience; the Hub keeps the audience assignment, not the column it came from.
  • Keep messages about the league and its structure, never about one player's registration, payment, eligibility or medical details.
  • Don't import birthdays. The preferences page doesn't ask for them either.

Example

The registrar starts to upload the full registration export, with player names, dates of birth, allergy notes and waiver status. The preview shows those columns as not stored, and the registrar re-exports just the contact email, name, household and audiences instead.

Good to know

  • Discarding columns is how the import works for leagues. It is not a scan for sensitive data and makes no compliance claim; what you export is still your league's decision.
  • Connecting on Blasts is each person's own choice, on a device they choose. The league sees that a person is connected, never their device, their location or their notification settings.
