Welcome each new reader of a publication

A short sequence that starts when a person enters one publication's audience.

What this helps you do

A Journey is a sequence of messages timed from when each person joins, so everyone gets the same welcome no matter when they connect. Message one goes out immediately or on the day you choose for that person, and the rest follow on your schedule. Each person has their own clock.

When to use it

Use it on a publication whose new readers should hear what it is, what to expect and how to change their choices. Start it for new readers only, so an imported list is never welcomed as if it had just arrived.

How to do it

  • Open Campaigns and choose New Journey. The starter is New Reader Welcome.
  • Pick one publication's audience.
  • Choose to enroll people who join from now on only.
  • Edit the steps for this publication: what it covers, its schedule, how replies work, and where readers change their choices.
  • Activate it.

Example

The Sunday letter's New Reader Welcome says hello the day someone adds it, explains the Sunday schedule two days later, and a week later points to the preferences page. A reader who adds the letter a year from now gets the same three messages; the readers imported on day one were never enrolled.

Good to know

  • It starts when a person enters the audience, never from a payment, a plan or anything outside the Hub.
  • If someone leaves the publication, their remaining messages stop; rejoining does not restart a finished sequence.
  • Journeys are Hub Pro, which unlocks at $500 in cumulative Blast Credit purchases. Content Series is available now.
