What this helps you do
Setup gets your organization ready to send: your profile and branding, your timezone and interface language, the organization-controlled Blasts account, your email sending address and the defaults a new DirectToMembers Hub starts with. Setting up a Hub is free. Sending uses prepaid credits at standard pricing, which can come from any legitimate source, and Hub Pro (Journeys and Event Campaigns) unlocks at $500 in cumulative qualifying Blast Credit purchases.
When to use it
Do this once when you first start, and revisit it if your website, timezone or domain changes, or when officers change over.
How to do it
- Sign in at /hub/signin/ with an email code, a passkey, or Sign in with Blasts, then open Settings.
- Enter your organization's name and website so your logo and colors can be captured automatically.
- Set your timezone so a 9 a.m. message goes out at 9 a.m. where your members are.
- Confirm the organization-controlled Blasts account: a mailbox on your own domain, not an officer's or volunteer's personal address, which is the root of ownership and recovery. Publish the DNS record Settings shows you to verify the domain, and leave it published.
- Check Email sending. Every new Hub starts with 50 email credits, and the weekly digest defaults to Monday 09:00.
- Leader approval starts off. Decide whether Leaders' Blasts should need an administrator's approval, and whether connection requests are auto-accepted.
- Create your organization's own parts under Audiences: chapters, sections, committees, the board or council, member classes, cohorts and New Members.
Example
An executive director enters the society's name and website, sets the office timezone, verifies the domain, leaves approval off so chapter chairs can send to their chapters, creates the nine chapters, three sections, the committees and New Members, and turns on auto-accept for the first weeks.
Good to know
- The Blasts account belongs to the organization, not to one officer, so it keeps working as officers change.
- Verifying your domain is about ownership and recovery of the organization's Blasts account. It is not how members are added here.
- Pricing is standard for membership organizations; there is no separate association price.
- Add a passkey on Home so the confirmation for an All Members send uses Face ID, Touch ID or your device PIN.
